Southern Speed Club is starting on their 6th season.  In the last 3 years skaters have worn the SSC colors to the 2002 & 2003 Florida Special Olympics, 2001-2003 Southern Regionals, 2001-2003 Nationals, 2001 & 2002 Outdoor Nationals, and the 2001 Worlds in France.  SSC is proud to have such talented skaters as Anthony Lobello, Leif Bisping, J.J. Meadows, Mary Spooner, Jennifer Gordon, Jonathan Henry, John Hurst and Reggie Morrison medal for their team.  The team looks forward to many, many, more talented skaters achieving their goals while wearing the red, black, and white SSC uniform.

Southern Speed Club is the product of two Tallahassee teams that merged together.  Lee Bisping coached one of those teams, Tallahassee Speed Club, and Erik Hildebrand coached the other team, Capital City Speed. Bring the two together and you have Southern Speed Club.  Coach Erik has since moved on and up to Michigan.  But Lee is still here.  He and Nicole have coached the team together for the last  3years .

Although SSC is relatively new, Coach Lee is not.  He has been coaching skaters in the Tallahassee area for 22 years, starting out on Tallahassee Speed Club for the first 17 years and now on Southern Speed Club for the last 5 years.  He has grown up in the sport and has watched and coached quite a few kids through it.  One of his skaters, Stacy Phillips has grown up right before his eyes.  She has been skating for him since she was 4years old, about 18 years now.  Coach Lee is Southern Speed Club and we are so glad we have him!

Here’s what we have looked like over the years.  Some of you might remember some of these uniforms.
