Columbus InMotion Report
Saturday, August 30, 2003

The black and red of the Southern Speed Club made a strong showing at the 2nd Annual Columbus InMotion 2003.  The skate portion of the event was hosted by our friends at GT Racing.  The morning portion of the day began with 20K Division races and a 5K Open in the Columbus Civic Center parking lot.  The afternoon action took place in Uptown Columbus running laps around the Cycling Criterium course. It was a fun but tiring day of skating, cycling, running and  activities.

Lake Meadows and Kyra Gressel stuck together like true team mates to help each other complete the 5K Open. Very impressive since neither has been practicing outdoors. Kyra placed 2nd overall for the day in Girls Under 8 division and Lake placed 5th among a GT Racing filled Boys Under 8 division.

In the Pro/Masters 20K JJ Meadows took 2nd place Masters Ladies, Matt Gressel finished 5th Masters Men and new team member Dan O'Neill had a good run finishing in under 45 minutes.  JJ came in 2nd Masters Ladies on the day while Matt claimed the Masters Men fifth spot.

Matt not having gotten enough excersize from the skate races completed the 5K run in under 30 minutes.

Dan Solomon placed 15th in the Mens Category 5 Cycling Criterium.

Thanks to Matt Gressel's mom Helen and daughter Courtney, Dan O'Neill's wife Nancy and Dan Solomon for encouragement and support during the day.
